The one on Cathy's dream of my death

Early this morning, while Cathy and Nathan slept, I decided to work at the computer. About 15 minutes later, Cathy started to moan, apparently in distress. Concerned, I ran to her side and shook her awake. True enough, she was having a nightmare.

"I dreamed you died," she said in shock. My poor wife was shaking.

"It's just a dream," I said, running my fingers through her hair and stroking her arm to calm her down. "I'm here, I'm okay. How'd it happen?"

"You were doing stunts," she said, "Che [a churchmate - Ganns] was there too. We were at the beach..."

I tuned everything else out. Well, there you go. That's how you know it's a nightmare. I would never be caught dead at a beach.

The one with the five transfers

So I call my insurance company to learn more about cash values. They transferred me to five different people before I finally got the right fellow. Except for this one kink, my insurance company has treated me well, so I'm giving 'em another chance before I go all bug-eyed on 'em.

The one with my wife moving

As Cathy prepared to move to her new office as Admissions Director, she realized that, after two years at her former office, she amassed only a boxful of stuff. Commenting on this, she told me, "it's a wonder that all these things are all I have after two years here." Or something to that effect.

Well, jobs are temporary, as is life on this earth. It's precisely for that reason that we work towards greater things - pleasing God! - so that our legacy doesn't just get jammed into a two-foot cardboard receptacle, but kept and cherished in the hearts of the people we meet and love.

The one with this past week and Prosec

I'm about to go home after having brought Cathy to Red Box to claim the first two of her six certificates to what is arguably the best karaoke place in Manila. I just had to blog for a little while about my week. It's been very difficult getting to a Net cafe with my employment situation being as it is.

In a nutshell, I will continue to handle Prosec classes until well into the week after next. I thank God for Prosec: without the facilitator fees coming from them, I have no idea where I'd get money to help my family cope. It's really something else, going through what I'm going through; it's definitely refiner's fire, and I know I'll get through it through God's grace and my own inimitable will to survive to watch the next episode of American Idol.

Meanwhile, I know that at least one company to which I applied did not take me in, because they posted a new ad on Jobstreet for the position for which I applied. Shame, really; I thought I did quite well. It's all about the humbling experiences, folks, and I've been learning about that these past twelve months.

Well, time's up - gotta run home and be with my son, assuming he ain't asleep. Do leave me a note, and I promise to visit your blogs soon. Take care and God superbless.

The one where we score one again for living the life

I just thought I should let you all know I've turned down the Uno job. I just didn't feel at peace with myself, and I know that a godly decision leaves one content and at peace.

I mayn't be employed right now, but I know God will provide, and that I did the right thing.

Blessings on y'all, and glory to God's name.

The one with Nathan truly being my boy

Cathy recently took Nathan to a beach resort for an overnight sortie with her associates from work. Wouldn't you know it? The boy is truly my boy!

According to Cathy, he hated every minute of it. Hated the feel of gritty, itchy sand beneath his feet, getting into his toes, and dirtying up his soles. Hated the smell of sea water, and the sticky feeling he undoubtedly got when the sun made him perspire. Hated the taste of salt water in his mouth and God knows what else on his legs. Cried on his mother's lap for her to take him back to the room, and after a few minutes of wailing, after being ignored by his mom, decided to go back on his own! My one-and-a-half year old boy actually left his mother on the beach and tried to walk back to his room!

I hate the beach, and now I'm not alone. Bwahahaha. My poor wife will just have to forage into the deep blue sea alone while my son and I stay in the airconditioned lounge watching Veggietales.

The one with how it doesn't stop pouring

I'm so blessed by God!

11pm last night, a friend texts me to congratulate me for that article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

"What essay?" I text back.

"The one where you wrote about proposing to Cathy."

It then hit me! I won a prize at the 2BU Valentine's Blowout! I sent an entry in and it won! Last Valentine's, I made a sign for Cathy using more than 300 pieces of Halls Honey-Lemon, Raspberry, and Ice Mint, took a picture, and sent it in to the PDI.

It won. I don't know what I won, but regardless, I'm sure it's bound to be awesome! :)

May God be glorified! See what happens when I give it up to Him? Gosh, I'm so psyched.

The one jampacked with God's blessings

I recommitted myself to Christ today in a long overdue prayer for forgiveness. I tell you, though, that once you're back in the fold after slipping and sliding, God welcomes you back with open arms and works His power in your life. I'm testament to that today.

What happened?
1) I redeemed my credit card bonus points. The Standard Chartered Rewards Program awards a gift certificate worth P100 from National Bookstore for every 1,200 points. I had enough points to receive 13 GC's from SCB! Praise God! To make matters even sweeter, the Bankard Infinite Rewards Program awards a gift voucher worth P1,000 for every 4,000 points, redeemable at Rustan's, SM, or Robinson's. I had enough points for two gift vouchers, so that's P2,000 worth of diapers, milk, and cereal at SM! [You gotta love credit card companies that give something back.]

2) I took a qualifying examination for Copy Editor at Global Sources. While I don't know how well I performed versus the other candidates, I was pleased with how I did. So, regardless of whether I make it or not, I'm happy. I also ran into wackymathay there. Say a prayer for his application to Citibank.

3) Found a cute Blue's Clues Blue(R) doll at Gift Factory! For P150, happy na ako. Nathan's going to be so thrilled!

4) Cathy is going to be home the day after tomorrow! I can't wait!

So how've things been with all y'all?
